Motion picture, television, stage and radio rights for our Authors works are handled by Ian Polonsky, whose mandate is to ensure that every book has a fair chance at reaching an audience in additional media, as well as to seek new talent to add to our roster.
In addition to several film and theatrical productions under development and a current roster of nearly 100 projects under option, our most recent successes include: P.T. Anderson's adaptation of the Upton Sinclair novel OIL! as THERE WILL BE BLOOD, nominated for eight Academy Awards including wins for Best Actor (Daniel Day Lewis) and Best Cinematography (Robert Elswit); a feature-length animated, international co-production of Minfong Ho's celebrated novel SING TO THE DAWN; new operatic stage adaptations of John Steinbeck's THE GRAPES OF WRATH and Sinclair Lewis' ELMER GANTRY, both of which opened to rave reviews (including a New York Times Art Weekend cover story for ELMER GANTRY), with performances scheduled throughout the country over the next several years; and Elizabeth Spencer's LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, winner of six Tony awards, continues to enjoy a national theatrical tour.
